Although not a great runner, have to say, I can identify. My third NYC Marathon, I experienced an Achille's heel injury, but I made myself finish the marathon. My time was embarrassingly off mark; I needed to walk the final miles and hop a few times, and despite the pain, made myself finish. Yes, perseverance is an excellent trait, but we also need to caution children that if they have a sports injury, they should also exercise caution. Sometimes, continuing on can lead to complications. Still, this is an excellent video for class discussions and a strong metaphor for facing life challenges head on.
Thanks for posting that video! I have character trait posters in my classroom and one is for perseverance. This is a really good example to show students what it can mean to persevere.
Wow! What an inspiring video!
