Wordle!!
We have been using Wordle this week as we work on character traits. We had students come up with 3-5 character traits about themselves and then create a wordle to show these traits. My students got really creative and had a great time using this!

What do you think of Wordle? How have you used it in your classroom?
I clicked on the link for Wordle, and then clicked on another link, and another link, and once again I was deep in the forest of the internet. I came upon the following site: http://www.angelamaiers.com/2010/02/strong-readers-dont-quit.html
ReplyDeleteIt does not have to do with Wordle. This site is a video of a minilesson on how to help students "Get-It" when they read a book. I thought I'd share it with you since I came across it as a result of your blog. THANKS!!
That looks like it is so much fun for your students to use! I bet I could use this in my classroom with a little tweak of lessons. It is a fun way to practice literacy skills, thanks for the ideas!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way of teaching character traits!! Wordle is so much more engaging than using a graphic organizer or character map. Thanks for the idea! As I commented on Lori's post about Wordle, in a 2nd grade classroom that I work in, the students created their own name tags, including their personality traits, during the first week of school using Wordle. It's a great way to build classroom community.
ReplyDeleteI used Wordle for name tags as well! I have plans to use it for characterization as well... great minds think alike :) You could also use it for content vocabulary or weekly vocabulary units... so the students can practice typing the words and then have a fun visual to see each day of the week/unit.
